I planned to write a long post about all of my new years resolutions, but decided not to (you’re welcome!) My list was getting a bit ridiculous, because my “resolutions” weren’t things I really wanted to do; just things I could write about. The truth is, I don’t really have that many new years resolutions, and the ones I do have aren’t very official.
I could resolve to write more – but to write more than what? To promise myself to write more than I already write would essentially be the equivalent of opening the lid of my trash can, picking up all of my spare time, and dumping it in there. In other words, so much of my time is spent writing that if I resolved to write more, I’d write myself crazy.
I suppose a better writing-related resolution would be to challenge myself more in my writing. This is something I think I am gravitating towards anyways – more challenging projects and topics.
One resolution that I have actually made, one that I made far before I thought about blogging about it, is to volunteer more. Giving back and helping others have always been important parts of my life, and in 2015 I’d like to set aside more time to volunteer in my community.
Another resolution, though this isn’t really an official Resolution (it’s a proven fact that putting words in capitals makes them more official… proven by me, I mean), is to keep trying to improve at social media. I recently updated my About page on this blog (take a look and let me know what you think!), and I’m still trying to get the hang of Twitter.
Other totally non-official resolutions include reading more, trying to keep my desk more organized (the main culprit is the gazillion sticky notes littering my desk. Anyone know any good sticky-note organizing solutions?!), and to just keep living life, laughing, and having fun.
What are your 2015 resolutions?
